You had me, right off the bat, by mentioning that God didn’t “hang a ribbon from the sky,” and then told me the Hebrew word for ‘rainbow’ along with it’s meaning, something I had never stopped to research myself.
I loved the direction of your post because I often feel like I’m a modern-day John the Baptizer out in the wilderness of mankind, trying my best to WARN them that "God isn’t 'a the Santa Claus in the sky' who is always jolly, giving, and doesn’t really see ANYONE as ‘naughty’—as so many prosperity Gospel preachers errantly proclaim. He is also THE God of humankind’s JUDGMENT. A day of reckoning IS coming. As you properly noted, God won’t ever destroy the world by drowning it again, but the wayward that reject Him here will all see and experience His terror.
Quoting you, “Remove the judgment, and the cravings are all that remains.”
Again, you cited my words--which fall on ears seemingly covered by invisible noise-cancellation headsets--when you reminded all your readers that the destruction of the future comes by fire, and that’s a certainty according to God’s Word. There’s plenty of fire lingering around to accomplish The Almighty’s cause.
You closed with two simple, but powerful, one-liners:
“Flee to Christ before the match is struck.” and “Historically, the last man to say “all things continue as they were” said it in the rain.”
GREAT stuff, Thad! God is perfect and, lest we forget, so will be His JUDGMENT. The scary truth is that His just and perfect Judgment won't mirror mankind’s current vision of ‘judgment’ and 'fairness.'
Thad, so many observations you've made here have been running through my mind over the past couple of weeks. Thank you for beautifully articulating scripture and pulling it together.
I'm in Ezekiel in my daily Bible studies and in Chapter 9, the Lord marked the remnant He set aside for mercy and salvation. All the rest were devoted to destruction: men, women, and children, all of them...as it was when Joshua and Caleb were instructed to do to the inhabitants of Canaan when they entered the land. Chapter 9:9 Then he said to me, “The guilt of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great. The land is full of blood, and the city full of injustice. For they say, ‘The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see.’ The pattern is obvious, when man is determined to ignore God, His blessings and His warnings, they delude themselves into believing He doesn't see or care, or worse, that He approves of their sins.
Today, even many so-called Christians are convinced that judgment will never come, or it must be very far off. And they believe they will be spared if it happens because they say Jesus is their all-forgiving pal; we live in THE age of Antinomianism.
They do not heed Ezekiel Chapter 9:10 where God says "As for me, my eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; I will bring their deeds upon their heads.” When judgment comes, God does not offer last-second rescue as so many believe today. He says repeatedly in scripture that whenever He executes judgment, people will cry out to Him and He will not hear them.
Judgment IS coming for all, whether by apocalypse or by meeting the Lord as a result of old age, or by accident, or illness, or by violence; death 100% guarantees experiencing judgment of one kind (Bema Seat) or another (White Throne). Ignoring His repeated forewarnings is exceedingly foolish.
True Believers rightly fear and respect the Lord, we heed His words, and look forward to His upward call. We know that His salvation is not a game.

Amen; fire next time.
