Jaine, thank you for your comments. My understanding of Revelation 20:3 is different. The sequence of end-time events in the Bible includes a seven Tribulation period of God’s judgment on earth followed by a one-thousand-year period known as the Millennium. Revelation 20:3 refers to God imprisoning Satan in the abyss during this time before he is released for a short time at the end of the Millennium for his final rebellion, which God puts down in Revelation 20:9.

Both of these events are yet to come, but they are clearly near. I understand some interpret these events allegorically, but that only leads to infinite outcomes. As such, the Bible is either literal and has a specific meaning or allegorical and has any meaning one wants. If such were true, it would be without any value.
